Welcome one and all – to the website for the AnchorBowmen and The 100Yard Field Archery Club

Welcome, everyone to the "new" AnchorBowmen//The 100Yard Field Archery Club website. The layout for the site has been amended somewhat, to fit in with a slightly different "delivery" system (as the Techie People like to say).

As you can see, any announcements can now be made very quickly via the Front Page, with a number of information pages backing that information up as appropriate. As you will see form the side bar on the right hand side, all the site pages have been laid out for easy access and navigation.

From now on, all news and information will be accessible from the Club News Page with the all the data you need being available via the Club Info Page. Any problems you can find on the site, I would very much appreciate a quick message of some sort and i will gladly look at any issues that have been identified. So once again, you are most welcome to the website and i hope that you enjoy the various sections and are able to find the information you need.

Yours – Dave (Club Secretary and one man webmaster)

The Old and the New

Archery PictureThe next two images are reflections of our recent history. The left hand image is one I took early on when we were at Bottesford. The second was taken on the second time out at Barnetby Top. Because of this move, the club how has access to trees and woods, and there is now a growing, thriving Field Section

This site is a co-op type production between
Smudgersworld (that'll be me),the Anchor Bowmen Of Scunthorpe and The 100 Yard Club.

This is a site for the encouragement, and support of, the sport of Archery.

Just a quick resume of my good self, and the basis of both the Clubs and the site. As you can see from the statement above, both Clubs, along with all the Archers, are here because we have a passion for the various disciplines of Archery. We have people who shoot at targets, and we have people who spend their time picking out targets hidden within the tracks of our borrowed piece of woodland. We teach, and we support. We have various types of bows, both modern and traditional. And anyone who is interested in Archery is most welcome to attend.

For me, as Club Secretary and Website runner, I'm an ordinary type of bloke – no one special.

But for all here at "Chez Smudger" Archery is (or was) a family sport. And we also have the full range of involvement with the sport – ranging from full competition, all the way through to social shooting – if, and when, the fancy takes. Although the kids really were the start of our family involvement (via a School Have-a-go) we have now been shooting for over four years now..

In that time my Daughter has become a compulsive competition shooter (moving from her lightning Blue Hoyt Rintec Compound to a rather nice Black and Red Bowtech Equalizer), although she does also Sing and Act in local drama group. I, for my sins (LOL) am now the Club Secretary and occasional competition shooter (Dad just got fed up of solely being the taxi) usually shooting with a powder Grey Bowtech Allegiance, although I am also into Barebow shooting – either with a Seb Flute Recurve, and on occasion with my Wooden American Flat Bow. The other members of the family are less involved, shooting if and when the feeling takes them. My lad is a very tall Footballer / Longbow archer, who has taken somewhat of a fancy to the Field Shooting whilst sometimes "nicking" his dad's spare Recurve, whilst my wife shoots Recurve/American Long Bow (when work allows).

This shows you how diverse Archery can be, there are so many options.

As a club, what you want to do is up to you. If you wish to be competitive, there are competitions galore. If all you want to do is meander round the woods, have a natter and get a bit of fresh air, that's not a problem to us either.
